Psychology for many years was focussed on mental illnesses and how to help a person become less mentally ill or recover from it. It had neglected a large chunk of the population who are not mentally ill but can benefit from understanding how our minds work, the motivations for our behaviour and how to become better. That is where the field of Positive Psychology (PP) came in.
Course objective
To enable the participants to be equipped with the knowledge of the basics of Positive Psychology (PP). The focus of PP is helping ordinary people become better in their work, in their relationships and experience a greater level of emotional well-being. The Course over three modules will explore the PERMA model in the first module, the six virtues and 24 strengths in the second module and the application of PP over different domains (parenting, workplace, counselling/coaching, senior citizens) in the third module. At the end of the course, the participants should have a sound understanding of how a person can have a more emotionally fulfilling life and the tools to achieve that.
